Let the Querying Begin!

I got my first rejection today, but that’s okay. I appreciate the quick turn around time of the agent, and, the fact that they sent me a response. The response was that the concept was interesting, but not right for them. A completely understandable response.
In the meantime, I will continue on with my editing and polishing, and somewhere out there is an agent and a publisher this book is right for, and that’s what I’m focusing on. Rejection isn’t fun, but, it is part of the process, so all I can do is try to learn from it and move on.

I submitted my first query to an agent in a very long time! I feel I represented myself and APOSTASY well, and I’m trying to keep in mind that if it’s not accepted (which is totally normal) then there are a LOT of other agents out there, and, hopefully each querying experience will teach me something. This is what I want to document here - the process, the rejections, and the eventual acceptance, because anyone looking for big time publishing is going through the same thing.
And if you are also a writer sending out your precious work into the world, I wish you all the luck in the world in your own querying journey.
